courtslosinit: Makes you think… This is absolutely the most offensive thing that I have seen this year. Plenty of other bad stuff would happen in the world even if there was no religion. Please don’t let your optimism in humanity let you think that religion is the only thing that corrupts people and makes us do horrible things to each other. Religion, at this point is the scapegoat. Yes, in an extremely indirect way, religion brought down the World Trade Center—a very radical sect of one religion that has very few members and that is so angry with the world and so obsessed with power that their anger and greed has become their God. Religion brought the World Trade Center down, but religion also sent firefighters into it as it burned, picked up the pieces of families afterwards, and reminds us constantly that tolerance, love, and selfless giving is really what makes the world go round. I think a world without religion would be a stagnant, miserable place just as full of the dichotomies of destruction and joy. Then what is there to blame?
